Bottlebrush (callistemon citrinus 'splendens')

Photo of bottlebrush flower, June 2008

Bottlebrush flowers in June/early July, the spectacular bloom is fairly short lived. They are best not pruned, but if pruning is essential, it should be done straight after flowering. They are easily propagated from seed. The seed pods can be seen forming at the end of the flowers. When ripe, very fine seed can be extracted, and germinate easily.
